Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Wilding In The West Spunk January 29, 2008
Folk, singer-songwriters and beards are cool again, believe it or not. Well, it didn’t start being cool this morning, but it seems that it’s been getting bigger in the last few years. Will Oldham is one of the reasons of this invasion of artists carrying their acoustic guitar and trying to sound profound. He’s got many (artistic) sons all around the world, like they all were inspired by the magnificent I See A Darkness. So, here he comes again with his second live album. It has its peaks and valleys, but all the songs sound very emotional (is he able not to sound deep anyway?). It includes many songs from his last album (also with a female companion). Another remarkable thing is that he doesn’t lose a trace of profoundness when his music gets more electric. There’s nothing else to say. It’s pretty good and you should check it out. - Grey
