A couple of Ivy League guys make up Vampire Weekend, the “it” band of the moment. I can’t really say anything that hasn’t been said before, this band has been blogged to death. However, I do have to say that all this hype they are getting is very well deserved. Their self-titled debut is a 35-minute collection of infectious pop tunes about grammar and cape cod summers with references to Peter Gabriel, reggaeton, and even Lil’ Jon. (I just used an oxford comma but who gives a fuck?) This is a fun, upbeat album and every song on it is perfectly crafted. It really is a brilliant debut, filled with catchy melodies and clever lyrics. One of the best releases of the year so far. -Tinasucks
