Thao with The Get Down Stay Down We Brave Bee Stings And All Kill Rock Stars February 11, 2008
This girl started making music in the laundromat of her mother at the age of 12. We started hearing about her a couple of years ago when she released her first album. Though she hasn’t caught the attention of the masses yet, her happy and sincere poppy folk is quite enjoyable. She reminds me of Jack Johnson and Ben Harper in some tracks. Mostly because of the music arrangements, not because of her voice which is not very similar to any singer I have ever heard. It’s her slightly particular way of singing what makes her sound different from the others. The album is all about acoustic and quiet electric guitars, some trumpets and these instruments only folk bands use, mixed with honest lyrics full of vitality talking about relationships and love. It’ll make you smile. - Grey
