Sandrine Dark Fades Into The Night Nettwerk Records April 1, 2001
In this record you'll hear, for sure, some intelligently-crafted pop arrangements: a mixture of subtle synthpads, double basses, mellotrons, Rhodes pianos and sequences creating a nice ambient for Sandrine's voice and orchestrating a collection of catchy, easy going songs. You'll listen to a perhaps unusual voice color and you'll think, like me, that everything in this record works. And it does, in the ordinary way. Which boundaries in the pop genre is this music pushing? What makes this production different? What is its distinctive signature? I haven't been able to realize it. It sounds too safe for me, the outcome turned out to be really predictable, and as much as I think it is not a bad record, I guess we, risk lovers of the world, will forget it for good sooner or later.- Mono
