The Breeders / Mountain Battles [2008] |
The Breeders Mountain Battles 4AD Records April 8, 2008
Mountain Battles are better fought alone. Wake up early in the morning, usual coffee cup, some fast reading, don't let your breakfast bun burn, get ready to hike, We're Gonna Rise. Walk it Off; you don't need a map, get to know your mountain, find all of its traces and paths, don't say anything. After probably three hours of walking, being in silence since you woke up, maybe getting an easy gig somewhere (you have rent to pay). Bang On, pass the millenium, go through and then find yourself free of all haze, watch the clouds beneath you, feel the thin air, then you will start hearing the music inside your head, don't say anything, yet. By now, you probably won't remember the moment you started to climb, your past lost inside of you; the battle begins. It's the Love, this is what you were waiting for, feel it all coming, deep down somewhere, as a rush, pure post 90's hopeless joy. Overglazed, singing "I can feel it" as you gather all of your energy to go rocking down the mountain, it all makes sense now; once again, silence, long silence is where great things are born. Don't worry about the hype when you come back, you have found your place in silence and now it is all your own. "No quiero que te vayas, la noche está muy fría, abrigame en tus brazos, hasta que vuelva el dia..." yes, that's Spanish, es un bolero. -postbop
