The Wave Pictures Instant Coffee Baby Moshi Moshi May 5, 2008
I don’t know if NME has reported about The Wave Pictures but they deserve some attention, more than many English bands. Would the word sincere fit here? I mean, of course their lyrics are honest and sincere but I don’t think bands like The Kooks are faking anything. The difference is that The Wave Pictures manage to create some touching tales by singing simple but original verses. Because they're not complex, they are quite simple, but still not repetitive or unoriginal. Singing sincere lyrics only using words like "love" or "baby" is far from being imaginative or innovative. Even if the song still sounds like somebody expressing sincere feelings, it’s not the same. The Wave Pictures sail in a sea of vague ideas and confusing feelings. The music is great in almost every track and some chords really help to reinforce what the lyrics want to express. - Grey
